Standardbred Mares

Happy Trails is a boarding facility for the Pennsylvania Standardbred Breeders Award program. Breeders who are looking for a barn at which to board their broodmares, in fulfillment of the 180-day residency requirement, can choose from one of two options:

Pasture boarding: Broodmares will be turned out in one of two spacious pastures created especially for them, with sturdy fencing and a run-in shed. Included in the monthly fee* are the following:

Good quality grain and hay
Administration of all medicines and supplements provided by the breeder
Once per week grooming
Individualized care to insure the delivery of a healthy foal
Access to a foaling stall
Holding for farrier
Blanketing (if necessary)
Meticulous record-keeping

*Multiple mare discount.  Ask for details.

Full board: Broodmares will be housed in 11' x11' stalls and turned out daily in one of two pastures, as noted above. The monthly fee* includes the following:

11' x 11' stall
Fresh bedding (shavings)
Good quality grain and hay
Administration of all medicines and supplements provided by the breeder
Once per week grooming
Individualized care to insure the delivery of a healthy foal
Access to a foaling stall
Holding for farrier
Blanketing (if necessary)
Meticulous record-keeping
